Project #04Encounters
Clubhouse Hosts Zilberman
Azade Köker , Yaşam Şaşmazer, Lucia Tallová
October 15 - December 31, 2026
Encounters looks at the relationships we form with ourselves, our surroundings and time through the distinct materials and visual languages of three artists. Moving between the body, nature, memory and transformation, the works create spaces in which boundaries remain fluid and forms, images and meanings continually shift into one another.
In Azade Köker’s layered surfaces, the body meets landscapes shaped by human intervention; in Yaşam Şaşmazer’s sculptures, boundaries between human and non-human beings and organic matter begin to dissolve. Lucia Tallová traces personal and collective memory through the body, architecture and found imagery. Brought together, their works approach the encounter not only as something that takes place between people, but between bodies and their environments, past and present, permanence and impermanence.
Azade Köker (b. 1949, Turkey) lives and works between Berlin and Istanbul. Beginning her practice with sculpture, Köker has developed a layered visual language spanning collage, sculpture and installation. Her work explores relationships between society, identity, gender, the city and nature, often addressing landscapes shaped by human intervention and the female body as sites where cultural, political and historical narratives intersect.
Her recent solo exhibitions include Stolon (Zilberman, Berlin, 2026) and Murder of a Mannequin (Zilberman, Istanbul, 2021). Her work is held in numerous international collections, including LACMA, The British Museum, MMK Frankfurt and Istanbul Modern.
Yaşam Şaşmazer (1980, Turkey) completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Sculpture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Working with wood, clay, paper and papier-mâché alongside organic and found materials such as mushrooms, lichens, earth, rocks, branches and roots, Şaşmazer explores the relationship between human and non-human beings through the body. Her sculptures blur boundaries between the organic and inorganic, animate and inanimate, presence and absence.
Her recent solo exhibitions include So flows the tide of things (Zilberman, Berlin, 2025) and either / or (Zilberman, Istanbul, 2021). Her work has been exhibited at institutions including Arter, Odunpazarı Modern Museum, Kunstmuseum Ahlen and Saatchi Gallery.
Lucia Tallová (b. 1985, Slovakia) lives and works in Bratislava. Working across painting, collage, object and installation, her practice revolves around memory, forgetting and the passage of time. Combining human figures, architectural structures and archival imagery, Tallová explores the ways personal and collective memories are constructed, transformed and lost.
Her recent solo exhibitions include Moving Clouds (PalaisPopulaire, Berlin, 2026) and Unstable Monuments (Zilberman, Istanbul, 2025). She has participated in international exhibitions including the 16th Lyon Biennale and was named Deutsche Bank’s “Artist of the Year” for 2026.
